Thank you to all who joined us for The First Annual Obstetric Life Support Conference on "Emerging Topics in Maternal Cardiac Arrest" on June 2, 2023.
This one-day virtual conference was attended by 740 registrants and hosted by UConn Health. We explored emerging topics, trends and treatments of maternal medical emergencies and maternal cardiac arrest. Invited speakers included experts in maternal mortality, cardio obstetrics, resuscitation, maternal stroke and emergency response. Topics were wide-ranging and included discussions on emerging topics in severe maternal morbidity and mortality, modifications of cardiopulmonary resuscitation in pregnancy, special procedures such as extracorporeal cardiopulmonary resuscitation used in pregnancy, postpartum maternal cardiac arrest, and preparing first responders for maternal medical emergencies.
Our keynote speaker was Dr. Mary D'Alton, a nationally recognized Maternal Fetal Medicine specialist. Dr. D'Alton is the Chair of the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at Columbia University and the Chief Obstetrician and Gynecologist at New York-Presbyterian/Columbia University Irving Medical Center.
